As the season changes to summer, Thursday night bible study takes a break, we want to encourage each you to keep yourself in the word of God, it says in Psalm 119:2. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
Blessed are they that keep His testimonies
As we have learned in Bible study the testimonies refers to the Covenant that was stored in the Ark of the Covenant…. not the Law that was placed outside of the Ark as a testimony against Israel, we read in Deuteronomy 31:26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee. Because they had broken the covenant. This is very important to understand because when Jesus came to establish the New Covenant as it says in Jeremiah 31:31-33 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. We also read in Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: this is the very foundation of the gospel, covenant is how God choose as an instrument to build a relationship with us. The ark is symbolic of the heart that’s why Jesus said he will write it in our heart. Because the ark in you; Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? As we study the Word we see why Paul says we are free from the law. Galatians 3:24-25 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. But don’t fooled the covenant is written on your heart and the price that was paid was Jesus death on the cross. The Law was a schoolmaster and it should be studied to teach us what the spiritual world is all about learning the difference between covenant v’s Levitical as you learn the difference you will find the freedom that was already won for you on the cross.
Seek him with your whole heart
What does it mean to seek Him? In Psalm 119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. The Hebrew word for seek is darash Strong’s H1875 it is also referred to in Jewish hermeneutics as a midrash meaning to “inquire” (“seek”) in other words God Hides Himself so you can seek Him and inquire of Him through his Word. Jesus makes us a promise in Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: also in Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. The word early can also be interpreted as diligently seeking Him… this should give each of us the blessed assurance that WE WILL FIND HIM.
We encourage you over the next few months to pick up His word, take the lessons that we have learned, get to know the covenant, and seek Jesus your savoir and messiah with all your heart seeing that he will reveal Himself to you in a new and wonderful way.
