If I could hear what is playing in your heart what would I hear? What song are you singing? it says in Ephesians 5:19-20 (we should be) “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The state of our heart and mind is directly attributed to the choice’s we make, the gratitude that we feel for our Lord, the creator, and giver of the gift of life. This all starts with the choices that we make and how we interpret with our eyes, ears, memory, and the experience of living is teaching each of us about life. So where do we start?

The first basic understanding that the Word of God teaches about the heart comes from Jeremiah 17:9 the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Seeing who we really are and recognizing our fallen nature and how deceitful our heart really is, and yes the heart needs to be redeemed! There is only one way, we need to receive Jesus Christ into our life and invite him to live on the throne of our heart, then and only then can the song in my heart change. Psalm 111:10 the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth forever. In Hebrew yir’ah יראה this fear is a healthy respect, reverence, for the Lord in your life. Psalm 145:18-19 The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry and will save them. Recognizing truth and the truth is our heart is corrupt. His promise is He will change our heart and as we call upon Him he will hear our cry. Fulfilling the “desire” an attribute of the heart, fulfillment starts with His being so close to us our heart can’t help but respond to His love.

When we experience this kind of redemptive forgiveness and love our whole life changes. Putting each of us on a path that leads to a health of mind, body, and spirit, the healing process begins redeeming each of us from the fear of man, anger, resentment, and all the destructive cycles our fleshly nature really only understands. We are just beginning to understand that the negative stresses of life, being without hope destroys our immune system and our ability to think clearly and our connection to our creator.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

When our heart has been restored, our confidence is renewed. You can now face any problem presented to. Psalm 23: 4-5 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Our song is the “Song of the Redeemed” gratefully forgiven, seeing the same mundane life we have always known with all its pitfalls, trials and tribulations in a whole new way.
