There are times when we are just overtaken by feelings of guilt and fear. You feel like you cannot take any more or go any further. There are days when you want to just give up; These are the days when a spiritual victory is at hand! John the Baptist said in John 3:30: “He must increase, but I must decrease”. We just need to step out of the painful influences that surround us and get alone with God. The first step is to get our eyes off ourselves and put them on, Jesus.

We know that the Lord wants our service, our devotions. He wants our good deeds, and our willingness to help others. We have a purpose in life, Luke 10:27: “… to love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself”.

The solution is getting alone with the Lord. It could be just for 30, 10 or even just a few minutes! Forget everything! Bend your heart and say “My strength is limited, I have limitations, I cannot go on”. Say: “Jesus I give myself over to you, completely, I can no longer function”.

A good analogy would be planting a seed in the ground. The seed is planted, it breaks apart, its exterior decomposes (decrease). Then it takes root and begins to sprout! From a small seed will come many after its own kind. From one tiny acorn, a tall tree will grow.

We need to humble ourselves, giving ourselves over to the Lord; We can find protection from the tidal wave of negative emotions and fears, and reemerge stronger and better for the experience.

What four things can I do?

  1. You must have had a teacher (the Holy Spirit) that will challenge you so that you can see the beauty of each day. John 16:13: “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth”.
  2. You must have a good friend that you can talk to; Reach out and help them carry the weight that is on their heart and with whom they can express their difficulties. Most of all to share the Word of Truth with, it says in Malachi 3:16: “… then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name”.
  3. You must get alone with the Lord following the example of Jesus. Matthew 14:23: “… and when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening came, he was there alone”. Get alone with the Lord and when you learn to freely express your feelings before Him, you release the stress and pressures you feel weighing heavily upon you. Then spiritually you will learn to walk on water in the midst of the storm.
  4. Learn to listen to what the Lord is saying to you. Deuteronomy 6:4: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord. Hear in Hebrew is shema means Listen and obey to hear Gods word as it comes alive in your life.

You will be propelled into the purpose you were created for. No matter what you see, no matter what you hear, and no matter what goes on around you will be walking in faith and the spiritual victory that was just at hand will be yours.
