The Soulfire Experience
For over 20 years young men and women from many different backgrounds have been finding the answer to the most profound question ever asked ; the question posed by Jesus to Peter when he asked his disciple, “Who do you say that I am?”
Soulfire is the name given by the youth for this group because of the “fire” that has been lit in their hearts over the years by the Holy Spirit. They know, when it comes down to God, it is not about a religion, a church, or a preacher but a deep and personal relationship with Jesus, the Messiah.
We will know a tree by its fruit and the fruit of this unique ministry is incredibly good. Graduates have served or are serving the Lord in Africa, Israel, Jamaica and Korea and have served mission teams in India, Brazil, Hawaii, and elsewhere. Our church’s new 33 year old Bishop in Pittsburgh, Pa. discovered his faith while a member of this youth group 18 years ago.
Young people finding the Truth which has set them free from drugs, depression and confusion while providing direction, clarity and hope – a blessed assurance of who they are, why they were born and where they are going! From star athletes and honor students to young men and women in crisis the testimonies are evidence to the faithfulness of the Lord.
So what is the Soulfire experience all about? It is an interdenominational Christian youth group with a vision that, “Whomsoever will come, let them come and taste and see that the Lord is good.” We meet every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. at the Community of the Crucified One in Moretown, Vermont. (On Route 100 just south of Moretown Village)
Monday nights are the heartbeat of the ministry, centered on the Word and worship, with great fellowship, games and good food. It is a time for new faces and old faces to come together in an “out of the box” place of spiritual challenge and discovery.
Beyond the Monday meetings there are many unique and exciting activities and opportunities provided throughout the year such as Camp Miracle summer camps; youth mission trips to Jamaica, Hawaii, Kenya, Brazil, Israel and India; service projects to the poor and hungry; participation in a youth “Life of Christ” Easter Cantata; seminars, workshops, retreats and much more.
