Say hello to our boys! (From front to back) Scamp, Ori & Imani.
Franciscan Farms is currently home to four wonderful alpacas. Animal husbandry is new to us here, and we are so happy to have these guys be apart of our farm family. The youngest of the four, Bosco, was born in July of 2008. He was donated to us by a wonderful woman named Karen who owns Stepping Stone Alpacas in Stowe. The two younger boys, Ori and Imani, were generously donated to us by a man who owns the incredible Ausable Valley Alpacas in Jay, NY. They arrived on our farm in mid September of 2008, just in time for the fall. And the white guy, Scamp, was born in 2005. He was donated to us from another great farm just over the mountain called Nu Leafe Alpacas. The alpacas are such a blessing to be around, with their silly demeanor and peaceful spirits, and we urge anyone and everyone who might be interested in meeting or learning about the alpacas to contact Franciscan Farms (see link at right). Our hope is to bring people to them and bring them to the people, not only as learning tools, but also as an outreach. Some of our plans for the alpacas include: snowshoeing and x-country skiing adventures for both school and adult outings during the winter months. Workshops on things like alpaca maintenance and fibers. Since this is such a new addition, our ideas will surely grow and expand and we welcome your input!
