Franciscan Farms Summer Residency Program: A Monastery Without Walls
If you find yourself spiritually drawn to creation and want a deeper relationship with Christ as He expresses himself through His designs… If you love working with the land and find fulfillment in sowing the seed and the hard work that it entails… You may want to consider applying for our Franciscan Farms Residency Program.
Those who are accepted will receive free room and board and will be fully involved with all aspects of our day-to-day farm operations. Applicants should be aware that the work here can be hard (but fun) and will sometimes call for early mornings and many hours in the Vermont sun. Workload and daily activities vary depending on when you arrive and the seasonal conditions. Summer 2009 will be an exciting season to volunteer, for our farm is growing quickly and always expanding. You will have the opportunity to be involved in preparing the land, planting new species, animal care, expansion decisions, opening and/or leading workshops, harvesting, running our veggie-stand, cooking and preparing produce, and much more. In your down time you can explore the beautiful valley that we live in, take trips to Burlington (or make the drive to Montreal), find hidden swimming holes, or hike the green mountains. Truly the adventures are limitless!
You will be welcomed (and encouraged) to participate in the prayer life of the Community, which will undoubtedly be a life changing experience. It will be a time of fellowship, learning, sharing, and growing as a person and in the Lord. For truly the Father still walks and talks with His people in the garden.
